Materials & Finishes

At PIMOSFER, materials are chosen to bring sculptural ideas to life while balancing distinctive design, everyday wearability and lasting beauty.

Most PIMOSFER pieces are crafted with copper-based metals and finished with gold-tone or silver-tone plating. Many earrings feature S925 sterling silver posts, and our current jewelry is made with nickel-free materials.

Because materials, finishes and decorative elements may vary by design, we recommend checking each individual product page for the most accurate specifications.

What Is PIMOSFER Jewelry Made Of?

Most PIMOSFER jewelry begins with a copper-based metal. Copper allows us to create the curved silhouettes, sculptural proportions, organic forms and expressive details that define many of our designs.

Depending on the piece, the surface may then be finished with gold-tone or silver-tone plating to create its final appearance.

Selected designs may also feature cubic zirconia, glass stones, simulated pearls, resin, enamel, beads or other decorative elements. Exact materials may differ from one style to another.

Gold-Tone & Silver-Tone Plating

Our plated jewelry is designed to achieve a polished, luminous finish while preserving the shape, texture and character of each piece.

Depending on the design and production process, PIMOSFER plated pieces generally feature a plating thickness of approximately 0.1–0.3 μm.

Some pieces also receive an additional protective coating intended to help improve resistance to everyday moisture, oxidation and surface wear.

As with plated jewelry generally, the finish may gradually evolve with time. How quickly this happens can depend on frequency of wear, skin chemistry, friction, humidity and exposure to cosmetic or household products.

Are PIMOSFER Pieces Waterproof?

PIMOSFER plated jewelry is designed with everyday wear in mind, and selected pieces include a protective coating that can help improve resistance to occasional moisture.

However, we do not describe our plated jewelry as permanently waterproof. Repeated or prolonged exposure to water, sweat, humidity, chlorine, salt water or chemicals may gradually affect the plating and surface finish.

To help preserve your jewelry, we recommend removing it before showering, swimming, exercising, visiting a sauna or spending extended periods in highly humid environments.

S925 Sterling Silver Earring Posts

Many PIMOSFER earrings feature S925 sterling silver posts for the part of the earring that passes through the ear.

S925 sterling silver contains approximately 92.5% silver and is widely used in jewelry because it offers a practical balance of wearability, flexibility and durability.

Please note that an S925 post does not necessarily mean the entire earring is made from sterling silver. The decorative body may still be crafted from copper-based plated metal or other materials depending on the design.

Refer to the Materials section on each product page for design-specific information.

Nickel-Free Materials

PIMOSFER jewelry is made with nickel-free materials. This forms part of our approach to creating jewelry designed for comfortable, everyday wear.

Skin sensitivity can still vary from person to person, however, and individual reactions may depend on personal skin chemistry or sensitivities to other materials.

If you have a known metal allergy or particularly sensitive skin, we recommend reviewing the material details of the individual piece before wear.

Stones, Pearls & Decorative Details

PIMOSFER designs may incorporate a range of decorative materials chosen according to the visual language of each piece.

  • Cubic zirconia
  • Glass stones or crystals
  • Simulated pearls
  • Resin details
  • Enamel
  • Decorative beads
  • Other design-specific elements

Since these elements vary across collections, the individual product page should always be considered the primary source for the exact material composition of a specific piece.

How Long Does Gold-Plated Jewelry Last?

There is no single lifespan that applies to every piece of plated jewelry. The appearance of a plated finish can change gradually depending on how frequently the piece is worn and how it is cared for.

Factors such as sweat, skin chemistry, friction, perfume, skincare, cleaning products, humidity and water exposure may all influence how the surface develops over time.

Gentle wear and proper storage can help preserve the color and shine of your PIMOSFER jewelry for longer.

How to Protect Your PIMOSFER Jewelry

A few simple habits can help reduce unnecessary wear on plated surfaces.

  • Remove jewelry before showering, swimming or exercising.
  • Avoid prolonged contact with sweat, salt water and chlorinated water.
  • Apply perfume, lotion, sunscreen and hair products before putting on jewelry.
  • Avoid direct contact with alcohol, disinfectants and household cleaning products.
  • Gently wipe jewelry with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth after wear.
  • Store pieces separately in a dry place to reduce friction and scratching.

Materials by Design

Because PIMOSFER explores different forms, finishes and decorative details, not every piece is constructed in exactly the same way.
